Grab your handiwipes folks… election advertising ahead!

24 Mar

The secret love-fest between the federal Grits and the Tories, as expressed in their current political TV ads, leaves you with no clear sense of difference in their brand personalities, surely the point of all political advertising.

The parties are born in the same crossfire hurricane, evil twins playing an endless public schoolboy game of King of the Castle. Watch these:

I suppose in the political war rooms, with their overstuffed egos and room temperature egg salad sandwiches, this seemed like a clever idea. “We’ll take the fight to them on their own turf boys! Bwahaha!”

But what all these political punsters have failed to realize is that the advertising is supposed to be for the voter, not for the amusement of the cadres and cheerleaders.

And now we’re headed into an election so we can all look forward to two months of being coated in this nasty stuff.

Where’s the leadership?
