What the devil is this ad about?

9 Jun

This is one of those ads where you have no clue what’s being sold until the final few frames.

Try and guess what it’s for. I couldn’t embed the YouTube video in the post because the name of the product is titled on the video. Just click on this photo to watch. It’s worth it.

A scary re-enactment of the Exorcist movie to sell a famous product.

Love the ad. Too bad the product is terrible. I have one. It is terrible. Very terrible.

    Wasn’t expecting that at all!
Would they play the complete ad on tv? It seems a little lengthy for a regular spot, but definitely needs the long build up to work properly.

    > They are crap aren’t they. haha!

    > Michela I don’t think commercial directors think in terms of 30 seconds anymore. Not when it can live on YouTube for free!

    That. Was. Awesome.
Not replacing my Dyson anytime soon, though.

I find that Dyson guy – the designer of the vacuums – to be the most credible pitchman on TV. Can’t imagine him resorting to the over-promise of this spot. The irony of The Exorcist is that, as Jody pointed out, they’re not very good vacuums. Hardly any suction at all! Advertising swing and a miss.

It’s the British accent. Lends credibility to any pitchman.
