Bacon vs Zombies

“Zombies and Bacon” by David Wehmeyer

With Season 3 of The Walking Dead about to kick off next weekend (trailer here), Google searches for zombies are rocketing once again.

About the only thing hotter than zombies at the moment is bacon.

If you’ve had your head in a Jack-in-the-Box, you’ve missed the introduction of bacon milkshakes, bacon marmalade, bacon beer … the list is inexplicable  inexhaustible.

I get curious, as you would at 4 in the morning, to see which is the more dominant meme. So here goes:

Google Image search results:

Bacon – 460,000,000        Zombies – 217,000,000

People would rather look at a strip of sizzling dead pig than a rotting flesh-eating corpse two-to-one? I don’t get it.

As it turns out there is such a thing as a bacon zombie.

Urban Dictionary:

“Bacon Zombie is the name given to an item, meme, or pop culture obsession that becomes overdone. The lack of interest in said thing is so high that the mention of it causes fits of depression, annoyance and nausea in anyone who has to listen about such old and worn-out interests.”

Alright, let’s get to the meat of the post: Which overdone, old and worn-out bacon zombie can you not live without: Bacon or zombies?

(How about that amazing illustration by David Wehmyer)

And what do you know: the votes here currently have people preferring bacon to zombies two-to-one. I still don’t get it!
